Black Haw Viburnum is a large shrub that will slowly grow up to 15 feet tall and just as wide if allowed. It grows best in full sun to part shade in moist to dry, well drained soils of various compositions. It's white flower clusters appear May through June and attract a wide range of pollinators. Its larger dark blueish/black fruit ripen in the early fall, providing food for birds and small mammals. If allowed to do so, it will form thickets which provide shelter for many animals. Host to many species of butterflies including the Spring Azure
