Verbesina occidentalis, Yellow Crownbeard  is a 3-8' tall, clump-forming perennial forb that blooms bright yellow, 'unkempt' flowers from August to October. It is very easy to grow and grows best in dry to medium, well-drained soil. It does best in full sun to light shade and can form large colonies through its rhizomes. It is a prolific reseeder, and though it prefers moist environments, it is relatively drought-tolerant once established. Terrific for erosion control and is a valuable plant for bees, butterflies and other pollinators. Attracts soldier beetles which is a natural predator for pests such as aphids and mites
