Sabal minor, Dwarf Palmetto is a small palm that grows up to 9.8 ft in height, with a trunk up to 12 in diameter. It is found in a diversity of habitats, including maritime forests, swamps, floodplains, and occasionally on drier sites. Prefers part-shade locations and areas that do not drain well, but is drought tolerant once established. Flowering occurs in mid summer with a long stalk of yellow-white flowers, followed by berries that mature to black, and is a source of food for birds and animals.
