Quercus Phellos, Willow Oak  is a medium-sized tree growing 65-100' tall (taller in the wild), and is easily grown in average, medium to wet, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerates light shade. Prefers moist, well-drained loams but adapts to a wide range of soil conditions including clays with somewhat poor drainage. Generally tolerant of urban pollution. Moderate to fast grower depending on site conditions and has showy fall foliage.  Attracts birds and butterflies, acorns are valuable for wildlife, and is a larval host for White M hairstreak and Horace's Duskywing.
