This beautiful perennial grows to be about 4' tall and 3' wide. It grows best in full sun to part shade, in moist to dry soils of various compositions. Purple blooms emerge in June and continue through September. It draws in a wide range of pollinators in including a few specialized bee species. Host plant to many insect species, including many grasshoppers! Being in the mint family, it's typically avoided by deer and bunnies, however, I have had them eat the flower buds.
