This large shrub can grow to be about 15 feet tall and just as wide. It grows best in full sun or part shade, in moist, acidic, and organic rich soils. Blooming October - December, it is an important nectar source for pollinators as it gets colder. Its seeds are consumed by many mammals in birds in the colder months, thought to be a favorite food of wild turkey.
