This low growing perennial rarely grows above a foot tall. It can grow in full sun or part shade, and moist to average soil conditions. It's blueish/violet flowers emerge in March and can last into June. The flowers are an excellent nectar source for butterflies and bees, and the seed becomes food for the birds.
