Juglans nigra, Black Walnut trees can grow to reach 90 feet in height. They require full sun and fertile soils for them to grow. They produce a large delicious nut that is edible to humans and wildlife. It is a host plant for many species of caterpillars. Be careful where you plant this tree, it produces a substance called juglone that some plants are intolerant of.
